Beste studenten,

Vandaag een bericht met belangrijke informatie voor jullie. We vragen je om dit bericht goed te lezen. Het gaat over jouw studie, jouw toetsen, jouw stage en jouw diploma. Natuurlijk zijn we ook benieuwd hoe het met jou gaat, gebruik #wijzijnhu op social media om ons te laten zien waar je bent, hoe je studeert en hoe je deze ‘intelligente lockdown’ doorbrengt. We missen jullie op onze campus en hopen dat we snel weer de draad gaan oppakken, samen.

Alleen wordt het een andere draad die we gaan oppakken, zoals je zult begrijpen. Dit studiejaar is je opleiding opeens veranderd in een online-opleiding met afstandsonderwijs. Je toetsen die gepland stonden hebben een andere vorm gekregen of zijn uitgesteld. Stages kunnen soms niet doorgaan en afstuderen kan lastig zijn.

Dit blijft voorlopig ook zo: realiseer je dat je anders gaat studeren dan je gewend was en dat het onderwijs, de toetsen, de stages en afstuderen over de komende tijd verspreid worden. De komende maanden en – als het nodig is – ook het komende studiejaar zullen we gebruiken om jouw studie zo goed mogelijk te organiseren, met behoud van de kwaliteit die hoort bij jouw diploma. Jullie docenten en opleidingsmanagers zijn hard aan het werk om dit voor jullie mogelijk te maken.

Voor de eerstejaars propedeusestudenten hebben we het BSA opgeschort, omdat de studeerbaarheid wordt beperkt door de kabinetsmaatregelen. Daarmee hebben we meteen een belangrijk begrip te pakken: studeerbaarheid. Wij hebben als Hogeschool Utrecht nu de opdracht om de nadelen van deze coronacrisis voor de studeerbaarheid van je studie zoveel mogelijk te beperken. Daarom hebben we direct het afstandsonderwijs ingericht zodat je kunt blijven studeren. En worden ook de toetsen aangepast.

Onze uitgangspunten voor de komende tijd:

Het beschermen van de gezondheid voor studenten en medewerkers van de HU staat voorop, waarbij zoveel mogelijk wordt aangesloten bij de richtlijnen van het RIVM en de kabinetsmaatregelen;
De HU ziet studeerbaarheid als een inspanningsverplichting en maakt gebruik van verschillende mogelijkheden om het onderwijs op afstand studeerbaar te maken en te houden;
Als door wijzigingen van de kabinetsmaatregelen en/of RIVM-richtlijnen de mogelijkheid ontstaat om veilig onze gebouwen te gaan gebruiken, dan gaan we dat doen voor bijvoorbeeld (eventueel aangepast) praktijkonderwijs, toetsen en onderzoek.

Onze doelstellingen voor de komende tijd:

Jullie de mogelijkheid geven om zonder studievertraging het studiejaar 2020- 2021 te beginnen of je afstudeerfase goed te laten afronden;
Zowel het onderwijs als de toetsen van periode D (13 april – 19 juni) worden zoveel mogelijk in alternatieve vorm online georganiseerd;
waar nodig gebruiken we de zomerperiode E en eventueel periode A van studiejaar 2020-2021 voor reparatie van de onderwijsactiviteiten en toetsen uit de huidige periode C, die we niet tijdig in alternatieve online vorm hebben kunnen aanbieden of door de aard van de toets niet online aangeboden kan worden.

Je opleiding zal je op korte termijn informeren over je rooster, de toetsen en herkansingen in periode D. Ook zal je opleiding je informeren over het inhalen van het onderwijs en toetsen die in periode C niet online zijn aangeboden. En of dat in periode D, periode E of in de eerste periode A van komend studiejaar plaats gaat vinden.

Voor vragen over onderwijs, toetsen, stages, afstudeertrajecten of hulp bij studeren kun je sowieso terecht bij je docenten, studieloopbaanbegeleider of decaan. Zij zijn online bereikbaar en beschikbaar en als je wil kun je ook vragen en opmerkingen sturen naar stip@hu.nl. Als het niet goed met je gaat, neem dan ook contact op met je studieloopbaanbegeleider of decaan, zij kunnen je adviseren en verder helpen met eventueel ook een verwijzing naar onze studentpsychologen. We horen ook dat er studenten zijn die echt heel erg klem zitten en thuis bijna niet kunnen studeren of hun werk op een smartphone moeten maken: stuur een bericht naar info@hu.nl en dan gaan we kijken wat we voor je kunnen doen.

We vragen veel van je omdat het niet anders kan. We willen dat je zo min mogelijk beperkt wordt in je studieloopbaan en dat je nu of straks met een volaardig diploma de HU verlaat. Dat vergt extra inspanningen en offers, van jou en van ons. Dat doen we graag en ook met een goede reden: onze samenleving heeft jou en jouw professionele kwaliteiten heel hard nodig. Blijf dus studeren, hou het vol en vraag vooral ook advies en hulp als je dat nodig hebt. Vergeet niet dat we allemaal begrijpen hoe het is om nu op afstand te moeten studeren, werken en samenwerken. Dus we kunnen elkaar ook goed helpen daarbij.

Dear students,

Today we send you a message with important information. We ask you to read this message carefully. It’s about your studies, your tests, your internship and your diploma. Of course we are also curious about how you are doing, use #wijzijnhu on social media to show us where you are, how you are studying and how you spend this ‘intelligent lockdown’. We miss you on our campus and hope that we will pick up again soon, together.

Albeit that we are going to pick up in a different manner, as you will understand. This academic year, your study suddenly changed into an online study with remote learning. Your planned tests have been reshaped or postponed. Internships can sometimes be canceled and graduation can be difficult.

This will remain the case for the time being: realize that you will study differently than you were used to and that the education, tests, internships and graduation will be spread over the coming period. We will use the coming months and – if necessary – the coming academic year to organize your studies as well as possible, while maintaining the quality that goes with your diploma. Your teachers and training managers are working hard to make this possible for you.

We have suspended the BSA for the first-year propaedeutic students, because the feasibility of the studies is limited by the government’s measures. This means we immediately have an important concept: study feasibility. As Hogeschool Utrecht, we now have the assignment to limit the disadvantages of this corona crisis for the feasibility of your studies as much as possible. That is why we have immediately set up remote learning so that you can continue to study. And the tests are adjusted as well.

Our principles for the coming period are:

Protecting health for students and employees of HU is paramount, whereby the guidelines of RIVM and the government’s measures are aligned as much as possible.
The HU sees feasibility as an effort obligation and makes use of various options to make and keep remote learning feasible.
If changes in the cabinet measures and/ or RIVM guidelines give rise to the possibility of safely using our buildings, we will do this for, for example, (possibly adapted) practical education, testing and research.

Our goals for the coming period are:

Give you the opportunity to start the academic year 2020-2021 without delay, or to have your graduation phase well completed.
Both the education and the tests of period D (April 13 – June 19) are organized online in alternative form as much as possible.
Where necessary, we use the summer period E and possibly period A of academic year 2020-2021 to repair the educational activities and tests from the current period C, which we were unable to offer in an alternative online form in time or due to the nature of the test.

Your study program will inform you in the short term about your timetable, the tests and resits in period D. Your study program will also inform you about catching up on the education and tests that were not offered online in period C. And whether this will take place in period D, period E or in the first period A of the next academic year.

For questions about education, tests, internships, graduation programs or help with studying, you can always contact your teachers, study career counselor or dean. They are reachable and available online and you can also send questions and comments to stip@hu.nl. If you are not doing well, please contact your study career counselor or dean, who can advise you and help you with a referral to our student psychologists. We also hear that there are students who are really very stuck and can hardly study at home or have to do their work on a smartphone: send a message to info@hu.nl and we will see what we can do for you.

We ask a lot from you because there is no other way. We want you to be limited as little as possible in your study career and you to leave the HU now or later with a full diploma. That requires extra efforts and sacrifices, from you and us. We like to do that and for good reason: our society really needs you and your professional qualities. So keep studying, keep it up and especially ask for advice and help if you need it. Don’t forget that we all understand what it’s like to study, work and collaborate remotely now. So we can also help each other well.
