Beste collega’s,
Zoals jullie inmiddels wel een beetje gewend zijn, willen we jullie met deze e-mail op de hoogte brengen van een aantal belangrijke zaken. Allereerst: veiligheid en gezondheid staan voorop. Blijf thuis bij klachten als neusverkoudheid, hoesten, keelpijn of koorts. Mijd sociaal contact. Bel pas met de huisarts als klachten verergeren.
De kabinetsmaatregelen ter bestrijding van de verspreiding van het coronavirus hebben er toe geleid dat we tot en met 6 april afstandsonderwijs en alternatieve werkvormen aanbieden. Veel collega’s zijn nu hard aan het werk om dit mogelijk te maken en de eerste resultaten zien we vandaag al in de praktijk.
Overleg VH, OCW en VSNU
De Vereniging Hogescholen (VH) richt zich nu namens alle hogescholen op belangenbehartiging: het inventariseren en agenderen van de nadelige (lange termijn-) effecten voor studenten, medewerkers en hogescholen van de maatregelen die zijn afgekondigd door het kabinet en het ministerie van OCW (Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap). De VH spant zich in om, samen met VSNU (Vereniging van Universiteiten) en het ministerie van OCW, tot heldere afspraken hierover te komen voor het hoger onderwijs. Het gaat dan onder meer over de aanmelddatum, inschrijvingen, het BSA (bindend studieadvies), de toelatingsvoorwaarden Buitenlandse studenten, de NSE (Nationale Studenten Enquête) en de kwaliteitsafspraken. Wanneer we meer helderheid hebben over deze onderwerpen informeren wij jullie over de uitwerking daarvan voor de HU-gemeenschap.
VPN gebruik vergt discipline
Het beperkt aantal beschikbare VPN-verbindingen vraagt om bijpassend gedrag van ons allemaal. Probeer om niet langer ingelogd zijn via VPN dan noodzakelijk is, zodat meer collega’s hier gebruik van kunnen maken. Om vanuit huis te werken is het vaak ook niet noodzakelijk om de “BIG IP edge client” VPN te starten. Een beperkt aantal applicaties kan je vanuit huis alleen via VPN benaderen: voor de afdelingsschijven (G-schijf) of Proactis heb je VPN nodig. Voor alle andere applicaties is geen VPN nodig en vragen we je VPN niet te gebruiken. Mocht je VPN gebruikt hebben, vergeet dan niet het na gebruik weer af te sluiten. Veel collega’s laten de verbinding voor langere tijd ongebruikt in stand, met als gevolg dat anderen niet kunnen inloggen.
Geen gebruik applicatie en software van derden
De noodzaak om nu het afstandsonderwijs en de alternatieve werkvormen te gaan organiseren en realiseren is voor een groot aantal bedrijfjes, bureaus en ZZP-ers aanleiding om docenten en andere onderwijsmedewerkers te benaderen met dienstverlening. Het is uitdrukkelijk zeer ongewenst om met deze partijen in zee te gaan. Ten eerste omdat de HU ruim de beschikking heeft over kennis, producten, faciliteiten, expertise en support. Ten tweede zijn er risico’s bij gebruik van applicaties van derden met betrekking tot de AVG en cyberveiligheid. Tot slot is het ook gewoon verstandig om al het afstandsonderwijs en de alternatieve werkvormen binnen de HU te ontwikkelen, daarmee blijft het copyright en eigendom ook binnen de HU en zijn alle ontwikkelde producten en diensten ook beschikbaar voor jouw collega’s binnen de HU.
Tot slot: het is een onwerkelijke nieuwe realiteit waarin we terecht zijn gekomen. Met veel zorgen en vragen. We merken tegelijkertijd dat jullie nu ook actief en betrokken naar oplossingen zoeken en dat er met veel energie wordt samengewerkt. Daarvoor willen we jullie bedanken en het geeft ons weer meer inspiratie om de HU-gemeenschap zo goed mogelijk door deze tijd heen te loodsen.

Dear colleagues,
As you are used to, we would like to inform you with this e-mail about a number of important matters. First of all: safety and health are most important. Stay at home with complaints such as the common cold, cough, sore throat or fever. Avoid social contact. Call the doctor only if complaints worsen.
The government’s measures to deal with the spread of the coronavirus have meant that until 6 April we offer distance learning and alternative working methods. Many colleagues are now working hard to make this possible and we already see the first results in practice today.
Consultation between VH, OCW and VSNU
The VH (the association of universities of applied sciences) now focuses on advocacy on behalf of all universities of applied sciences: making an inventory of the adverse (long-term) effects for students, employees and colleges of the measures announced by the cabinet and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and putting them on the agenda. Together with VSNU (association for universities) and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the VH is making efforts to reach clear agreements for higher education. This includes the sign up date, registrations, the BSA (binding study advice ), the admission requirements for foreign students, the NSE (national student enquiry) and the quality agreements. When we have more clarity on these topics, we will inform you about their effects for the HU Community.
VPN use requires discipline
The limited number of available VPN connections requires appropriate behavior from all of us. Try not to be logged in via VPN longer than necessary, to ensure more colleagues can use it. It is often not necessary to start the “BIG IP edge client” VPN to work from home. A limited number of applications can only be accessed from home via VPN; for the department disks (G-disk) or Proactis you need VPN. For all other applications, no VPN is required and we ask you not to use your VPN. If you have used VPN, don’t forget to close it after use. Many colleagues leave the connection unused for a long time, as a result others cannot log in.
No use of third party application and software
The need to now organize and realize remote learning and alternative work forms has prompted a large number of companies, agencies and freelancers to approach teachers and other teaching staff with services. It is very undesirable to do business with these parties. Firstly, because the HU has ample access to knowledge, products, facilities, expertise and support. Second, there are risks when using third party applications related to the GDPR (general data protection regulation) and cyber security. Finally, it is also sensible to develop all remote learning and alternative working methods within the HU, so that the copyright and ownership also remain within the HU and all developed products and services are also available to your colleagues within the HU.
Finally, it is an unreal new reality that we have entered involving many concerns and questions. At the same time, we notice that you are now involved and actively looking for solutions and that you are working with a lot of energy. We would like to thank you for that and it gives us more inspiration to guide the HU Community through this time as best we can.
