Beste studenten,
We gaan er van uit dat jullie je zo goed mogelijk aanpassen aan de nieuwe realiteit en de richtlijnen van het kabinet en het RIVM in acht nemen. De veiligheid en gezondheid van jullie en onze medewerkers staat voorop. Blijf thuis bij klachten als neusverkoudheid, hoesten, keelpijn of koorts. Mijd sociaal contact. Bel pas met de huisarts als klachten verergeren.
Inmiddels zijn we gestart met het organiseren en realiseren van afstandsonderwijs en alternatieve werkvormen. De docenten en opleidingsmanagers zijn hard aan het werk hiervoor. Zoals we eerder hebben gezegd zijn de bestaande roosters het uitgangspunt. De docenten bekijken welke onderwijsactiviteiten op afstand kunnen worden georganiseerd en via je opleiding krijg je bericht hierover.
We krijgen vragen van studenten over de gevolgen van de kabinetsmaatregelen voor het studieverloop. Terechte vragen en we delen jullie zorgen. Er vindt op zeer regelmatige basis overleg plaats met het ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschappen door de Vereniging Hogescholen over onder meer het BSA, de toelatingsvoorwaarden Buitenlandse studenten, de NSE en de kwaliteitsafspraken.
Sommige studenten vragen of de HU net als Hogeschool Rotterdam het BSA afschaft voor dit jaar. Wij wachten het overleg met het ministerie af voordat we besluiten hierover nemen.
Zoals je kunt zien zijn er veel onderwerpen die besproken worden. Belangrijke onderwerpen omdat deze impact kunnen hebben op jullie, op het studieverloop en de kwaliteit van het onderwijs en het diploma. Wanneer we helderheid hebben over deze onderwerpen informeren wij jullie over de uitwerking daarvan.
Wat kan je zelf doen? Uiteraard kun je thuis blijven studeren als de lesstof online of offline beschikbaar is. Wat je ook kunt doen is bekijken hoe je thuis een studieplek kunt inrichten om online te participeren in colleges, lessen en overleggen. Misschien kun je met je huisgenoten, ouders, broers of zussen bespreken wat voor jou een goede oplossing of afspraak is. We weten dat niet iedereen thuis een eigen plek kan hebben of dat er veel afleiding of geluid aanwezig is. Daarom is het goed om er over na te denken.
We gaan er van uit dat we tot en met 6 april 2020 het onderwijs op afstand aanbieden. Voor alle toetsen in de periode tot en met 6 april 2020 wordt een oplossing gezocht. Je opleiding zal je hierover informeren.
Tot slot: het is een onwerkelijke nieuwe realiteit waarin we terecht zijn gekomen. Met veel zorgen en vragen. We merken tegelijkertijd dat jullie, de docenten en de andere collega’s in de HU-gemeenschap ook actief en betrokken naar oplossingen zoeken en dat er met veel energie wordt samengewerkt. Daarvoor willen we jullie bedanken en het geeft ons weer meer inspiratie om de HU-gemeenschap zo goed mogelijk door deze tijd heen te loodsen.

Dear students,
We assume that you adapt as much as possible to the new reality and the guidelines of the Cabinet and RIVM. Your health and safety and that of our employees is most important. Stay at home with complaints such as the common cold, cough, sore throat or fever. Avoid social contact. Call the doctor only if complaints worsen.
We have now started organizing and realizing remote learning and alternative working methods. The teachers and training managers are working hard to realize this. As we said earlier, the existing schedules are the starting point. The lecturers look at which educational activities can be organized remotely and you will receive a message through your study program.
We receive questions from students about the consequences of the government’s measures for your study progress. These are legitimate questions and we share your concerns. Consultations with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science are held on a very regular basis by the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences about, among other things, the BSA, the admission requirements for foreign students, the NSE and the quality agreements.
Some students ask whether the HU, like Hogeschool Rotterdam, will abolish the BSA for this year. We will await consultations with the Ministry before we take any such decisions.
As you can see there are many topics discussed. These are important topics because they can have an impact on you, on your study progress and the quality of education and diploma. We will inform you about the effects of these topics, when we have more clarity.
What can you do? Of course you can continue to study at home if the course material is available online or offline. You can also look at how you can set up a study place at home to participate in online in lectures, lessons and consultations. Perhaps you can discuss with your housemates, parents, brothers or sisters what a good solution or appointment is for you. We know that not everyone can have their own proper study spot at home or experiences a lot of distraction or noise. That’s why it’s good to think about it.
We assume that we will offer distance education until April 6, 2020. A solution is being sought for all tests up to and including 6 April 2020. Your study program will inform you about this.
Finally, it is an unreal new reality that we have entered involving many concerns and questions. At the same time we notice that you, the teachers and other colleagues in the HU Community are also involved and actively looking for solutions and that there is a lot of energy. We would like to thank you for that and it gives us more inspiration to guide the HU Community through this time as well as possible.
