Op maandag 3 september 2018 starten alle opleidingen van de instituten die in de nieuwbouw gehuisvest gaan worden, tegelijk op hun nieuwe locatie: Heidelberglaan 15.
Na bijna vijf jaar van herhuisvesten is de HU Campusontwikkeling in fysieke zin bijna afgerond. De nieuwbouw is het laatste project binnen een reeks van verhuizingen en verbouwingen. De bouw gaat goed en het nieuwe onderwijsgebouw wordt prachtig. We zien echter ook dat er nog veel moet gebeuren in en rondom het gebouw om een goede start te kunnen maken. Daarom is besloten het gebouw per aanvang studiejaar 2018-2019 door alle instituten en het Kenniscentrum Economisch Sterke en Creatieve stad in gebruik te laten nemen. De HU wil geen risico nemen op verstoring van het onderwijs door bouwwerkzaamheden. Door deze nieuwe planning te volgen, kan de HU op 3 september 2018 een prachtig nieuw en modern onderwijsgebouw in gebruik nemen, dat gegarandeerd af is en gereed voor ingebruikname.
Verhuisplanning in het voorjaar bekend
Vanaf juni start de HU met het inrichten van het gebouw, zoals het installeren van het ICT-netwerk en de ‘specials’, zoals de ICT-labs en tv- en radiostudio’s, de montage van smartboards in de leslokalen en projectruimtes, het plaatsen van het nieuwe meubilair en uiteindelijk met het verhuizen van het bestaand meubilair en meterbakken.
De nadere invulling van de activiteiten die tussen juni en augustus plaatsvinden, wordt op dit moment uitgewerkt. Deze verhuisplanning wordt in februari/maart bekend gemaakt. De verhuisplanning wordt gemaakt in afstemming met de betrokken instituten, diensten en het kenniscentrum.
Kennismaking met het gebouw
Vanaf het voorjaar ontvangen de studenten en medewerkers die gaan verhuizen, op frequente basis nieuwsupdates via de e-mail. Deze geven informatie over de verhuizing en het nieuwe gebouw. Met deze informatie kun je in jouw team ook het gesprek al starten over hoe jullie invulling gaan geven aan het gezamenlijke gebruik van de gebouwen binnen het nieuwe huisvestingsconcept.
Voorafgaand aan de ingebruikname stellen we studenten en medewerkers in de gelegenheid om kennis te maken met het gebouw door bijvoorbeeld rondleidingen te organiseren. Om iedereen zo snel mogelijk wegwijs te maken in het nieuwe gebouw worden bij de start van het studiejaar de Warm Welkom Weken georganiseerd: van ask-me studenten met wegwijsboekjes in de centrale hal tot gastvrouwen/-heren op de instituutspleinen en georganiseerde rondleidingen door het hele gebouw.
Gebruikers en faciliteiten
Heidelberglaan 15 wordt de thuisbasis van de volgende zeven instituten: Institute for ICT, Instituut voor Media, Instituut voor Communicatie, Institute for Business Administration, Institute for Business Economics, Institute for International Business Studies en Institute for Marketing and Commerce. Daarnaast komen ook de onderzoekers en medewerkers van de lectoraten binnen het Kenniscentrum Economisch Sterke en Creatieve stad er te werken. Maar ook studenten en medewerkers vanuit de andere gebouwen ga je hier gaan treffen, immers binnen de HU Campus maken we gebruik van elkaars voorzieningen op het USP.
In het zeven verdiepingen tellende gebouw springt het hoge atrium, dat wordt doorkruist met roltrappen en loopbruggen, meteen in het oog. In het gebouw vind je een verscheidenheid aan studie- en werkplekken, project- en overlegruimtes. Daarnaast zijn er diverse grote, multifunctionele collegezalen en natuurlijk de onderwijs-specifieke ruimtes zoals bijvoorbeeld de ICT-labs en de tv- en radiostudio’s. Op de zesde verdieping is een groot dakterras en op de begane grond bevindt zich het science café en een food court met drie keukens met verse en afwisselende gerechten.
Elk opleidingsinstituut heeft zijn eigen herkenbare thuisbasis in het gebouw: het instituutsplein. Dit is een open ruimte waar je mensen van jouw opleiding ontmoet, zowel studenten, docenten als bezoekers. Er is een pantry met een koffieautomaat en printers, en je vindt er diverse soorten werk- en overlegplekken om samen of individueel in alle rust te werken. In de nabijheid bevindt zich de afgesloten werkomgeving voor docenten en medewerkers.
Slotstuk huisvestingsprogramma
Met de ingebruikname van de nieuwbouw wordt het huisvestingsprogramma afgesloten. Dan is al het Utrechtse onderwijs en onderzoek van Hogeschool Utrecht geconcentreerd in vijf gebouwen op Utrecht Science Park (USP) De Uithof. Vanaf 2013 zijn daarvoor verschillende gebouwen gerenoveerd en vormt de nieuwbouw het slotstuk. De HU Campus is nu een feit. Dat betekent dat je als HU-student en medewerker, gebruik kunt maken van de nieuwste voorzieningen en faciliteiten. Op de HU Campus worden ruimtes en faciliteiten met elkaar gedeeld. Door duurzamer en efficiënter met ruimtes om te gaan, komen er meer middelen ten gunste van het onderwijs en onderzoek. Daarnaast faciliteert de HU Campus ontmoeting en verbindingen tussen onderwijs en onderzoek, en de beroepspraktijk met partners op het USP en in de regio.
Faciliteiten op Daltonlaan en Bolognalaan
Op Daltonlaan 500 en Bolognalaan 101 (en Padualaan 97) blijft Sodexo het restaurant verzorgen tot 15 juni 2018. Ook het Café @Daltons op Daltonlaan 400 en Stef’s op de Bolognalaan blijven tot die tijd in bedrijf. De banqueting op de Daltonlaan (200, 400 en 500) en Bolognalaan 101 blijft ook exclusief bij Sodexo.
Relocation to new building in the summer of 2018
On Monday 3 September 2018, all the programmes of the institutes that will be housed in the new building will start at their new location simultaneously: Heidelberglaan 15.
After almost five years of relocating, the Campus Development of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht is nearly completed, physically at least. The new building is the last project in a series of relocations and refurbishments. Construction progresses well and the new educational building will be splendid. However, we do recognise that a lot still needs to be done in and around the building in order to make a proper start. That is why it has been decided that the building will be occupied by all institutes and the Research Centre for an Economically Strong and Creative City by the start of the 2018-2019 academic year. The HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht does not want to take any risk of disrupting education due to construction work. By following this new schedule, the HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht will move into a beautiful, new and modern educational building on 03 September 2018, which is guaranteed to be completed and ready for occupation.
Relocation schedule will be known in the spring
In June, the HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht will start furnishing and equipping the building, such as the installation of the IT network and the specials, such as the IT labs and TV and radio studios, the installation of smart boards in the classrooms and project spaces, the placement of new furniture and ultimately, the moving of existing furniture and boxes.
The details of the activities that will take place between June and August are worked out at the moment. This relocation schedule will be announced in February/March. The relocation schedule is prepared in close coordination with the institutes, services and the research centre involved.
Familiarising yourself with the building
From spring onwards, students and staff who are moving will receive frequent news updates via e-mail. These updates provide information about the upcoming relocation and the new building. Prior to occupation, we give students and employees the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the building by organising guided tours, for example. In order to ensure that everyone settles into the new building as soon as possible, the Warm Welcome Weeks are organised at the start of the academic year: from ask-me students with guide books in the central hall to hostesses/hosts on the institute areas and organised tours throughout the building.
Occupants and facilities
Heidelberglaan 15 will be the home base for the following seven institutes: Institute for IT, Institute for Media, Institute for Communication, Institute for Business Administration, Institute for Business Economics, Institute for International Business Studies and Institute for Marketing and Commerce. In addition, researchers and staff of the lectureships within the Research Centre for an Economically Strong and Creative City will be working there as well. And you will also meet students and staff from the other buildings here, because within the Campus of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht we use each other’s facilities at Utrecht Science Park (USP) De Uithof.
In the seven-storey building, the high atrium, which is crossed by escalators and walkways, immediately catches the eye. The building offers a variety of study and work places and project and consultation rooms. In addition, there are several large, multifunctional tuition rooms plus, of course, education-specific rooms, such as the IT labs and the TV and radio studios. The sixth floor boasts a large roof terrace, while the ground floor accommodates the science café and a food court with three kitchens that serve fresh and varied dishes.
Each programme institute has its own recognisable home base in the building: the institute area. This is an open space where you can meet people from your degree programme, such as students and lecturers as well as visitors. There is a pantry with a coffee machine and printers and you will find various work and consultation places to work in peace, together or individually. The closed working environment for lecturers and staff is nearby.
Completion of the relocation programme
The relocation programme is concluded by occupying the new building. It means that all Utrecht education and research by HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht is concentrated in five buildings at Utrecht Science Park (USP) De Uithof. Starting in 2013, various buildings were radically renovated, with the new building being the final part. The Campus of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht has now been completed. This means that, as a student and employee of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, you can make use of the latest provisions and facilities. Spaces and facilities within the Campus of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht are shared. Using spaces more sustainably and efficiently frees up resources for education and research. In addition, the Campus of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht facilitates meetings and connections between education and research and between professional practice and partners at the USP and in the region.
Facilities at Daltonlaan and Bolognalaan
At Daltonlaan 500 and Bolognalaan 101 (and Padualaan 97) Sodexo will continue to run the restaurant until 15 June 2018. Café @Dalton at Daltonlaan 400 and Stef’s at the Bolognalaan also remain in operation until that time. Waar kunnen medewerkers op het Daltonpark terecht voor eten & drinken tussen 15 juni en 3 september? We gaan minstens tot half juli door op de Daltonlaan, ga ik vanuit?
Dag Esther, voor die periode zijn we nog aan het onderzoeken wat de mogelijkheden zijn.
Inderdaad, we gaan sowieso tot 20 juli door. Zeker tot aan die datum is het wel fijn als er nog ergens een broodje o.i.d. kan worden gehaald. PL is toch net even een viaduct te ver voor een snelle lunch.
De examencommissies zouden ook graag zien waar ze vanaf 20 augustus terecht kunnen voor hun overleggen en het voeren van bezwaargesprekken op uitgebrachte BSA’s. Er wordt al aan een planning gewerkt en het is niet fijn om niet al te kunnen weten waar we terecht kunnen tussen 20 augustus en 3 september.
